Liz Bell

Artist Statement

Liz has always painted, beginning in oils and then finding the joy of painting in watercolor. She loves the spontaneity and transparency of watercolor.

She enjoys impressionistic style painting in both watercolor and oils. Nature is a large inspiration in her work and she uses watercolor sketches done “en plein air” to work on in oils in her studio.

‘I have always felt the need to document what I see in an impressionistic style using watercolor and oils. I feel that even with thought and intent, the final piece is always a surprise. This is what makes painting a joy’.
